Mexico Textile Residency

In the beginning of 2026 I travelled to Oaxaca, Mexico, to work and learn with/from local crafts artisans. Next to my learning experience I followed a textile residency called Texere, learning how to weave on many different looms, working with textiles and creating new works. The trips was inpsired by a personal, feminist, and spiritual exploration of the power of textile crafts rooted in my family history. Taught by my mother and grandmother to crochet, knit, sew, and embroider, I now weave these undervalued skills into my paintings – honoring the women whose work was never recognized.
